Ever since Kat Von D announced her make-up range was coming to Debenhams I knew I had to get my hands on some. I spent my teenage years watching her on LA Ink, and my adult years reading rave reviews about her range, so when I was given a Debenhams gift card from Ben’s parents this Christmas I knew what it was getting spent on.
I feel most like myself when armed with a bold red lip, so I went for Nosferatu. It’s a medium-dark crimson red which I think goes with my skin tone perfectly. It is great for a night time look, but I wore it to a job interview (which I got, by the way) so it’s certainly versatile. It’s super pigmented, I use one coat to cover my lips and a second to top up; A little goes a long way with this one.
The Everlasting Liquid Lipstick goes on as a smooth liquid but dries matte. The formula is super creamy; I tend to find that matte liquid lipsticks tend to go flaky on me, but this one doesn’t so much, the formula is lightweight on the lips and not too drying. If I eat or drink it does tend to wear away in the corners of my mouth and in the middle, but I think that is to be expected. I’m always hesitant to top up liquid lipsticks as I think you can see the lines between the ‘older’ lipstick and the ‘new’ lipstick, but that’s just not a problem with this formula – it melts together with ease.
I really like the applicator; I’m not the best at putting on liquid lipsticks, but because the doe-foot applicator is pretty sturdy I tend to find my lines are much cleaner.
The tube is a bit thinner and longer than usual, which looks great but also makes it super easy to lose at the bottom of my handbag. The design is super sleek and totally goes with Kat’s overall style.
With a price tag of £17 (plus P&P or free in-store collection), it’s a wee bit more expensive than your average drugstore lipstick, but I personally think it’s worth the extra few pennies.
Whilst it is durable with great colour pay-off and sleek packaging, It just doesn’t stay quite as long as a regular lipstick with a coat of my trusty Lipcote over the top. “Longlasting”? Yes, “Everlasting”? Not quite. It is however much more comfortable than using Lipcote, which makes it a winner in my book.
This lipstick is one of the few that actually lives up to the hype. I will definitely be adding a few more to my collection ASAP (hello Lolita & Bow ‘n’ Arrow). The formula is good, but it’s really the colour choice and pay-off that does it for me.
You can grab yourself some of the Kat Von D collection exclusively from Debenhams online (UK). Here’s to hoping they bring it into stores too!
